GODZ
Overview

GODZ is set in the very
far future with alien species that have godlike powers known as QuaL.
These QuaL initiated a tournament for all planets to enter. The one catch
is that all entrants must be Muzaroken or in the English language...God.
Using technology beyond all compare, the planets were able to manufacture
these gods to take part in this Qualian tournament, the prize, untold
fortune that would make the most richest of planets thrive with power and
economic status, however Gods are very expensive to manufacture thus only
1-3 can be 'created' on each planet.
These gods need to get their
power from something called 'QI' which works like ammunition in that as
you use your gods attacks the QI level of that god will drain .
Play test
GODZ is an excellent idea
with a battle system based on the popular anime Dragonball Z with many
battle modes and character attacks. The first, and so far best thing you
will notice about GODZ is the 3rd person view which perfectly compliments
the detail on the Character models. It also allows a much better
perspective on the attacks each god uses.
The attacks aren't great
and the animations for them could use some work, They tend to be plain and
don't vary much from attack to attack. They also don't always work when
you press the button which is annoying when you need to attack fast though
this is good as it prevents heaving into someone and stopping them from
moving!
There are many maps which
vary from very small to high and big, each GODZ ability to fly is dampened by the
low ceiling on the smaller maps which isn't much higher than you can jump
but it is perfectly complemented on the bigger maps which allows good
flight for those in-air battles.
If you have ever watched
Dragonball Z the idea of QI for attacks should be very easy to understand,
different attacks use different amounts of QI and flight also reduces your
QI over time. Unlike Unreal tournament, QI doesn't need ammo to be
restocked, instead you can bind a key to a charge up button which halts
your movement but your QI regenerates quickly. You can also increase your
attack power power by using the 'boost' button.
The range of characters is
small but each character is very well designed and suited to their
attacks. A bigger range of characters would be be a good thing to put in
the next GODZ release but until then there are only the 6 but they do have
costumes as such which makes GODZ all the more fun to play!
The music in GODZ is very
well used and perfect for the games general idea, the sound effects aren't
too bad but more are needed especially for the attacks which lack any real
distinctive sound effects.
